Pai Thai

These cards are similar to the Ceki decks of Indonesia and Malaysia and derive from Chinese money suited cards. Cards are 83 x 20 mm.

There are three suits, Coins, Strings and Myriads,  of nine cards each, and three special cards  Old Thousand, Red Flower and White Flower, each of which is repeated twice for a total of 60 cards.

I have two sets of 60 cards. It seems that as in Ceki it requires 120 cards to play, that is 4 each of 30 cards. The shape of the cards is long and thin, and the plain backs of the two sets are orange and green.

Red stamps appear on the Old Thousand, the Red Flower and the 9 of Strings.

See Andy Polletts page on Thai cards for a fuller explanation.

The Thai numerals can be seen on the Myriad cards

The centre of the cards seems to have an image of a bird - an emblem of Thailand ?

The back of the cards are plain orange and green.
