These seem to be a transition pattern, with the addition of the overprinted R, D, and V, and probably the numbers on the pip cards.
The ace of clubs has an 1890 tax stamp. They have an interesting sort of shot silk effect on the backs.
I like the diagonal slash dividing the mirror image figures and the line work is rather nice.
