These cards were produced for the seventieth anniversary of D Day which was the beginning of the liberation of German-occupied France in World War II.

On Tuesday, 6 June 1944 Allied Forces invaded Normandy in Operation Overlord. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history.

My friend Jane bought these cards (and then gave them to me) when we were visiting Normandy in 2018. We found reminders of war everywhere in Brittany and Normandy, although we thought the idea of D-Day Happy Families a bit droll.
