Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Corsica and features as the King of Hearts. Letizia, Napoleon's mother features as the Queen of clubs. The Moor's Head on the jokers are from the coat of arms of Corsica.

The King of spades is 'Bellacoscia' which means 'beatutiful thighs.' This was the nickname of François Antoine Bonelli, a famous Corsican bandit.
